Colorado Tech Online Faculty
Meet Dr. Kristin Horton
School of Business
From Purgatory to Progressive Education
Kristin Horton has been to Purgatory and back... skiing, that is. Among her favorite places to strap on the boards and test her downhill skills are Taos, New Mexico, and Breckinridge, Colorado. But her heart, figuratively speaking, remains in Purgatory, now called Durango Mountain Resort.
In warmer weather, Kristin and her family are avid off-road enthusiasts; her husband was even picked by Jeep Jamboree to be a trail guide for the Hole in the Rock Trail in southern Utah.

Colorado Tech Online professors are real people who lead interesting, active lives. Their professional experience, personal interests and overwhelming sense of dedication to their students combine to make them people worth knowing, teachers worthy of your consideration.
Making Learning Fun
Professor Horton has held positions in Marketing, Human Resources, Communications and now, Online Education. Her breadth of experience and sharp sense of humor help Kristin make her students feel comfortable and at home in the virtual classroom. "Course lectures and learning material can be intense. But I make every effort to foster a feeling of fun and camaraderie in my classes. It makes for a better learning environment."
"As a former academic advisor, I'm particularly aware of the advantages certificates add to a person's job qualifications. They can help get a foot in the door or make an existing employee more valuable to their current organization. Plus, the way they've been built into our degree programs, they act as incremental milestones a student can achieve as he or she moves towards graduation. They keep the ultimate goal of earning one's degree within focus, rather than off on some distant, indiscernible horizon."
With a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and a Master's in Organizational Management, Kristin's educational and professional experiences enable her to bring a range of real-world accomplishments into her online classrooms.
