How is Colorado Tech Online accredited?

Colorado Technical University is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association. (for more information, visit the NCA Higher Learning Commission web site)

Major universities in the United States are accredited by six regional accrediting organizations. The regions are set up geographically and colleges and universities are required to adhere to high-quality standards to maintain accreditation. Colorado Tech Online is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central Association.

Will the credits I receive at Colorado Tech Online transfer to another college or university?

Transfer of credit is always up to the receiving institution; however, during your discussion with the institution about transferring credits, you can inform the institution that Colorado Technical University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association.

Are the college credits earned in Colorado Tech Online's degree programs equivalent to those earned at a traditional university?

Yes. Transcripts do not reflect the delivery method of a course, only the credit hours earned. The objectives and outcomes of online courses are identical to those of an on-site class.

What are the admissions requirements?

To apply for admission, just follow the four steps described here:
  1. Submit an application for admission online now, provide your contact information to have an Admission Advisor contact you, or call us at 1-800-416-8904. If you apply online, your application will be sent electronically to Colorado Tech Online. There is a $50 application fee. After you submit your application, Colorado Tech Online will contact you to complete the remaining steps.
  2. Conduct a personal telephone interview with one of our Admissions Advisors. All applicants are required to complete a telephone interview. This interview will give you an opportunity to ask questions about the curricula and courses that interest you. Interviews are also used to determine whether applicants are qualified to become students at Colorado Tech Online. Please feel free to have a parent or spouse present for the interview, if it would make you more comfortable.
  3. Submit attestation of high school graduation or equivalency for undergraduate admission or an official undergraduate transcript verifying completion of a baccalaureate degree for graduate admission.
  4. If your first language is not English (or if you graduated from a non-English speaking school), TOEFL scores of 500 for undergraduate and 550 for graduate, or other acceptable proof of English proficiency must be submitted.

How long does the admissions process take?

The entire process can take as little as four to seven days to complete. The length of time depends on how soon you complete the personal telephone interview and return all required application documents to Colorado Tech Online.

How long do the programs take to complete?

Colorado Tech Online's Master's degrees can be completed in 15 months. The Bachelor's degree programs can also be completed in as little as 15 months through the Baccalaureate Degree Completion Program.

How are Colorado Tech Online academic programs different from degrees offered at traditional campuses?

The primary difference is that online degrees are offered to meet the needs of students with time and location restraints. Although an online degree program may be more convenient for you than one offered at a traditional college campus, the standards are the same.

Does Colorado Tech Online have an orientation program?

Yes. Our students are required to complete an online orientation that is sent out days before classes start.

How does an online degree program work?

Online learning allows you to study whenever and wherever it's most convenient for you. This format provides a great deal of flexibility to people with complicated schedules and demanding careers.

Getting your degree online involves interaction with instructors and classmates online, rather than attending class on a traditional campus. Courses are delivered entirely online via the Internet; you will complete all your work using a computer.

What financial aid does Colorado Tech Online offer?

Colorado Tech Online participates in various federal and private financial aid programs that are available for those who qualify. Students who are either enrolled or accepted for enrollment may qualify for financial assistance if their personal financial resources are unable to meet the full cost of their education.

Can I use tuition reimbursement to pay for my education?

Yes. If you are accepted to our university, a Financial Aid Representative will explain to you how this process works and will assist you with other items pertaining to financial aid.

All students are encouraged to research outside assistance that may be offered through other organizations, such as your company's human resources department.

Will you accept military tuition benefits?

Colorado Tech Online is committed to assisting veterans and active military personnel obtain the maximum military educational benefits for which they are eligible. If you are accepted to the university, a Financial Aid Advisor will assist you.

Will I have to attend classes at a campus?

No. Our academic programs are offered and are accessible completely online, giving you the convenience and flexibility to earn your degree wherever you have Internet access.

What will my classes be like?

Our courses are presented in a rich multimedia format that enables you to interact as often as you like. If you prefer to have a hard copy for notes, you can print the presentation. If during the presentation, you'd like the professor to repeat or move forward with any given concept, that's under your control.

Students can also participate in classroom discussions with the instructors and other students. Since our students are employed in a variety of interesting professions, you may also gain insightful knowledge from them and can learn from their experiences as well as share your own insights.

Who teaches the courses?

Classes are taught using industry-current technology by faculty members who have advanced degrees and bring situation-specific relevance to every course to ensure that you are prepared for real-life challenges after you graduate.

When can I begin?

How do I apply for the degree program that interests me?

At Colorado Tech Online, you can apply online. Interested students will consult with an Admissions Advisor regarding a desired program, course selection, registration and the completion of all necessary forms and documents.
