Meet Ron Anderson
BSBA with a concentration in Management
The desire to improve his background in business was a key motivator for Ron Anderson, President of Install Chicago and a recent Colorado Tech Online graduate. "I had always wanted to complete my Bachelor's degree because I felt I needed further expertise in order to stay in my line of business. This had been a goal of mine for a long time."
Ron chose to earn a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a concentration in Management because he was starting his own business and felt he needed to grow as a business person and wanted to improve his already broad business background. He felt he would greatly benefit from the courses in the business administration degree program. "The only way I could see to do this was returning to school and get my degree."

To help make the decision of what university to attend Ron, solicited the help of a friend who is an administrator at another university. "Because of my busy schedule I was considering online universities and my friend highly recommended Colorado Tech Online because of its accreditation and reputation of the online platform. She thought it would be challenging for me and I would gain a lot out of the education."
While Ron was completing his degree program through Colorado Tech Online, he was quite impressed as a whole. "The technology, the reputation and the highly credentialed instructors initially led me to choose Colorado Tech Online and I wasn't disappointed. The Virtual Campus was as near to a brick and mortar school that you can get online. The atmosphere was extremely useful for students; the instructors had regular office hours and the classroom environment was one where the students could easily exchange ideas."
Being able to communicate with instructors and fellow students was the key for Ron to be able to persevere throughout his degree program. "The Virtual Campus allows you to form relationships with your instructors and peers which is something that is important when you are attending college. The way the classes were organized, as far as discussion groups and the group projects, gave me the opportunity to interact with my classmates and to make some very good friends. One might think you are going to be isolated in an online environment, but that isn't the case at all. My classmates and I worked together on group projects and exchanged ideas for research and information from websites. It was very enjoyable!"
Currently, as President of Install Chicago, Ron keeps very busy. In fact, he was able to grow his business from two employees to over 20 employees in a 14 month span. Install Chicago receives, delivers and installs office cubicles for major dealers in the Chicago area. Where Ron's position is primarily sales, operations and project management he was immediately able to utilize what he learned through the many business administration courses though Colorado Tech Online. "I was able to take what I learned in managerial accounting and see where the company's money was going and make adjustments to where we could be more profitable." Ron also now has the confidence to develop presentations and present to groups to sell his products. "My company is twice the size now as when I started with CTU. Colorado Tech Online has really paid off for me."
Ron plans on staying in his current business for a few more years; then he would like to explore other career options. He feels his education through Colorado Tech Online has opened up his thought processes to consider the many other options of different businesses available. Ron would like to further his education eventually and plans to continue on with Colorado Tech Online for a Master's degree in the future.
