Meet Joseph Blancas
BSBA with a concentration in Finance
Even with an Associate's degree in Finance and 19 years experience, Joseph Blancas found the need to continue his education when his manager requested that he get a Bachelor's degree. Having been out of school for quite some time, Joseph turned to someone he trusts for advicehis martial arts Master. "I am a third degree black belt and when you get that far in martial arts under someone's tutelage you develop a great deal of trust and respect for that person. So, when he recommended I look into Colorado Tech Online, I looked no further and made a phone call. The Admissions Advisor I spoke with seemed very knowledgeable and helpful as he walked me through the admissions process. Before I knew it, I was on my way to earning a Bachelor's degree."
Joseph enrolled in the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree program with a concentration in Finance. He feels earning his degree from Colorado Tech Online will not only satisfy his employer's request, but also will open new opportunities for him. "I can explore new options and set higher goals for myself. I am planning on enrolling in the Master of Business Administration program at Colorado Tech Online after I earn my Bachelor's degree. Instead of settling for a position as an associate at a bank, I can set my sights on a management position, perhaps at a larger company. With a Bachelor's degree from Colorado Tech Online and perhaps even a Master's, I can set higher goals for myself."

Having been away from school for a long time, Joseph was apprehensive about being able to compete with younger, more computer savvy students. The staff and other students at Colorado Tech Online quickly put his fears to rest. "The first thing I learned is that all the help I need can be available. Technical support is available 24/7 and my Academic Advisor is only a phone call or e-mail away. I get great feedback and constructive criticism from the instructors and have great interaction with my fellow students. I never would have believed online learning could be so personal before enrolling at Colorado Tech Online. I would recommend Colorado Tech Online to anyone who is considering continuing their education."
Some of that interaction may have been of immediate benefit to Joseph in his career. "I know English as a second language and with the feedback I get on my assignments from my instructors and classmates I have greatly improved both my oral and written communications skills. The array of students in my classes at Colorado Tech Online can be very diverse. I can interact with people of various ages, various ethnic backgrounds and various professional backgrounds at many different levels. That sort of interaction can help me improve my interpersonal communications skills which, in turn, can be a great asset in my profession. Colorado Tech Online has been a very rewarding experience for me."
Joseph has words of advice for both current and potential Colorado Tech Online students. "You are responsible for your own success. The only limitations you have are self-inflicted." Joseph believes that once he begins something he must follow through and finish it. "Having an Associate's degree and not a Bachelor's was like unfinished business that I kept making excuses for not finishing. My advice to potential students thinking about continuing their education is, do not hesitate and just go for ityou will be the one who benefits most from the new opportunities higher education can create for you. With Colorado Tech Online, it is never too late to continue your education."
