Meet Jeff Cassil
MSM with a concentration in Information Systems Security
Charting a Course for Success
When Jeff Cassil needs to find used parts for the classic Fiero he is restoring, creativity is key. "Almost all states have a classic car club. I also go to local dealerships to find what I'm looking for." He also has had luck finding rare parts on eBay. "I've discovered that when you sneak in at just the right time and make your bid, you can buy parts very cheaply."
When not restoring cars or volunteering as a soccer coach and referee, Jeff, a retired military officer, is employed as a Database Analyst and Software Engineer for the State of Oklahoma. Jeff found Colorado Tech Online when he was searching the Internet for a Master's in Information Systems Security program of study. He says he had a hard time finding a university that offered this degree because "it's so new, and most universities haven't even added it to their curriculum."
Up-To-Date Course Materials
Upon enrolling at Colorado Tech Online, Jeff was pleasantly surprised to find how up-to-date CTU's course materials are. "A lot of classes I've taken in the past, when you open up the text, you can see the material is at least three years old. From working in the industry as a software engineer, I can immediately tell when the material is not up to date and I've been pleasantly shocked to discover how current CTU materials are."
Jeff is looking forward to the project management course that includes a built-in certificate as part of his degree program. "I already have a lot of experience in this area, but it will be really nice to have the credentials because I feel it will help me to move into management."
In addition to the cutting-edge materials and real-world relevancy of the coursework, Jeff says he likes the five-week class sessions. "Because we change classes and instructors every five weeks, you don't have to block off the same two days for online classes. That makes for a nice change of scenery because the instructors all have different teaching styles."
