Meet Emad Rahim
MSM with concentrations in Project Management and Business Management
Emad Rahim, originally from Brooklyn, NY, grew up in a socio-economic setting where it would have been easy to become another statistic, but instead he had higher ambitions. "I grew up in an urban setting where a lot of people were dropping out of high school and few pursued higher education. A lot of people had bad experiences with traditional education. I grew up fighting the status quo, fighting stereotypes and I did not want to be part of those statistics. I wanted more for myself and more for my family. I wanted to set a good example for my peers and for the younger people I work with."
Emad did more than set a good example; he founded a non-profit organization and co-founded a consulting firm that provides a wide array of services and support to various human services organizations. He is also currently serving on the Board of Directors of Syracuse Real Food Cooperative and the Westcott Community Center. Emad has been in the field of Human Services and Public Services for over a decade. "I pioneered the introduction of a series of leading edge workshops and training initiatives centered in subject matters of effective programming and services. I developed and facilitated several leadership and empowerment programs and trainings for local organizations and educational forums. Through these programs we were able to institute change models for quality assurance in agency programming and staff development."

Emad's educational achievements, which include earning a Master's of Science in Management degree with concentrations in Project Management and Business Management through Colorado Tech Online, have earned him publication on the National Dean's List and Chancellor's List. He believes, more importantly, that his education has directly contributed to his impressive list of career accomplishments. "While working on my Master's degree I started the Human Resource Association of Central New York. I found I was able to apply a lot of the methodologies of business and project management that I was learning through Colorado Tech Online to non-profit organizations, where they can be just as effective as they are in a full-profit setting. I soon noticed a demand in consulting for teaching the effective application of these methodologies to both public and private businesses. I am now a certified business manager and project manager, working as a contract consultant. I also became better at managing my computers and software through working with the Virtual Campus. My self-esteem and confidence has improved. All of this was made possible through my education at Colorado Tech Online."
While having many achievements may satisfy the career ambitions of others, Emad continues to reach for new heights and aspires to help others do the same. "I am currently pursuing a Doctorate in Management at Colorado Technical University in Colorado Springs, CO. My ultimate career goal is to run a larger non-profit organization with a proven track record, but my aspiration is to teach with Master's degrees I earned through Colorado Tech Online. Before I earned these degrees I applied for many instructing positions to no avail in corporations and both traditional and non-traditional universities. Immediately after I earned my degrees I started getting responses. I am currently teaching several basic business courses at Bryant & Stratton College and SUNY – Empire State, but I really want to teach in a non-traditional setting like Colorado Tech Online and I'm almost there! I am currently on the staff roster at Colorado Tech Online for 2007 and am waiting to hear exactly what courses I will be teaching."
Emad has a few words of advice for current and future students. "Take full advantage of the applied learning that is offered, because it can be applied to whatever profession you are in. Take advantage of the multiple options for learning that are available, because everything you need to succeed as an online student is available on the Virtual Campus. Take advantage of the benefits of networking with classmates and alumni. Get to know your instructors and stay in touch with them - they can have a positive influence on you well beyond graduation. And, most of all, stick with it! Colorado Tech Online will pay off for you in the end."
