Fred Sottile

New Degree = New Job Opportunities

The Daily Independent, Ridgecrest, California's daily newspaper, reported on August 13, 2006, that former resident Fred Sottile had graduated through Colorado Tech Online with a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Despite working two jobs while going to school, Sottile graduated summa cum laude with a 3.93 GPA.

While it is news that Sottile graduated—and with honors, nonetheless—the bigger news is that he has already used his Bachelor's degree to help him land a new job in law enforcement. Sottile lived and worked in western Pennsylvania while attending Colorado Tech Online, but will soon be relocating to New England for his new position. Prior to graduating and accepting the law enforcement position, Sottile worked as a residential aide shift supervisor for an assisted-living company and as a part-time mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service.

Sottile graduated from Ridgecrest's Burroughs High School in 1981. Ridgecrest is halfway between Bakersfield and Death Valley National Park.

While many law enforcement agencies require only an Associate's degree, to rise up the ranks—or to really differentiate yourself from other candidates—a Bachelor's degree is necessary. Everyone at Colorado Tech Online sends their congratulations to Fred.
