Curtis White
Off to Officer Candidate School
Thanks in part to a Bachelor's degree through Colorado Tech Online, Curtis White
was accepted into Officer Candidate School. In June, 2006, The Orange County News
(Texas) reported that White, who had recently finished his four-year obligation
in the Marine Corps, opted to continue his military service. After completing the
rigorous 12-week OCS course in Pensacola, Florida, White will be commissioned as
an officer in the Navy. He will start his career as an officer as an ensign.
White hopes to then continue his military education at Naval Air Station, also in
Pensacola, where he will train to be a pilot.
White graduated through Colorado Tech Online with a Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration, which he earned while still in the Marine Corps. Only in a very
few cases are military men and women accepted to OCS without a Bachelor's degree.
Even with a Bachelor's degree, an officer candidate must receive recommendations
from superiors and demonstrate above-average abilities in leadership. White graduated
from high school in Texas in 2001.
