Apply in 4 Easy Steps
Step 2: Meet Your Education Officer
Scheduling an appointment with your Education Service Officer is an important step
in the Colorado Tech Online enrollment process.
Before meeting with your Education Service Officer, make sure you gather essential
paperwork for the military tuition assistance and grants* for which you may qualify.
Complete and fax all forms to your Colorado Tech Online Admissions Advisor.
You should be prepared to explain your motivation for getting your degree at our
university. Your Education Service Officer will be interested in your reasons for
choosing Colorado Tech Online and how online learning is uniquely adaptable to military
schedules and lifestyles.
To prepare for your meeting, you may find it helpful to read some of our Basic Training
documents like Top 10 Reasons to Enroll.
During the meeting, ask your Education Service Officer if you are eligible for the
GI Bill Top-Up program before you start using your GI Bill, if applicable.
Other important points to make about enrolling at Colorado Tech Online include the
following:
- Colorado Tech Online's degree programs are accessible anytime, anywhere, as long
as you have a connection to the Internet. That means your education goes with you
wherever you go, even if you get deployed!
- Colorado Tech Online's degree programs are accelerated, meaning
you can get a quality, career-focused degree in as little as 15 months.*** Furthermore,
every degree program includes built-in Academic Certificates
to add credentials to your academic achievements.
- Be sure to let your Education Service Officer know that an Articulation Coordinator
will work with you to develop a degree plan that will incorporate applicable military
training courses and your occupational specialty. This training and experience might
equal relevant college credit, possibly allowing you to complete your degree faster
and save on tuition.
- Be sure to let your Education Service Officer know that Colorado Technical University
is accredited by The Higher Learning Commission and a member of the North Central
Association. (For more information, visit the NCA Higher Learning Commission web site.)
- Be prepared to talk about Colorado Tech Online's Liberty Grant*,
which offers a 20% grant* for Active, Active Reserves, National Guard military personnel serving in the U.S. Armed Services, and their eligible spouses. A 10% grant* has been established for Veterans** of the U.S. Armed Forces, and their eligible spouses. Spouses will be required to provide a military identification card for verification.
*University grants or scholarships are based on established criteria as published in the University's catalog and are awarded after verification that the conditions of eligibility have been met.
**Discharged Veterans must have a discharge other than dishonorable.
***The 15-month Bachelor's degree is a 2+2 program and assumes that all associate-level requirements have been met through an Associate's degree or the equivalent. CTU Online students with no previous college experience can complete this degree in about 2 ½ years.
